Calling for fair student finance on BBC Radio 4
In January 2021, BBC Radio 4's Money Box reported on students left without access to student finance because the alternative, Sharia-compliant scheme promised by government had still not arrived.
The lack of suitable funding has left many British Muslim students struggling to access higher education. The BSMA called on the government to fulfil the promises made to these students, who should not have to choose between their religion and their education. We also highlighted the work of Asha, a British Somali medical student, in raising awareness of the issue.
