On Friday 16 January 2026, Leicester Somali Medics, with the BSMA, held a hypertension awareness evening with Women 4 Change in St Matthews, Leicester.

The session was given in English and Somali by Dr Hafsa, Dr Suad and medical student Maryam, President of the Leicester Somali Medics Society. Young girls in the audience asked about choosing medicine and studying, inspired by young female doctors from their own community.
