Dr Mubarik Igal wins research prize at ESMC 2026

We were pleased to hear from Dr Mubarik Igal, winner of the ESMC 2026 Oral Presentation Prize, as he presented an overview of his research in under 90 seconds.

His research, “Trauma-Informed Perinatal Care for Forcibly Displaced Women in Resettlement Contexts,” examines approaches to addressing inequities in perinatal care and improving access to appropriate, trauma-informed support for forcibly displaced women.

Dr Igal is a researcher in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge, where he also teaches on the MPhil in Population Health Sciences. His work draws on his international medical training and a decade of humanitarian experience in conflict settings, with a broader focus on reducing health inequities and improving access to care for underserved populations.

In recognition of his achievement, Dr Igal was presented with a watch generously gifted by Guided & Co, one of our valued ESMC 2026 sponsors. We extend our sincere thanks to guidedandco for their support and for helping us spotlight excellence in research within our community.

Congratulations once again to Dr Mubarik Igal on this well-deserved achievement.
